Impressive picture there blackbrazen. What does the rest of Ludovic "Sandy" Gustavus Arbuthnot, 16th Lord Clanroyden look like by the way?

Great expression as he stares off into the distance, no doubt wondering what secrets lie over the horizon.

He does look great! And his eyes look more natural too!

How do you get the flocking to lie down so naturally across the forehead and at the sides as real hair would grow, rather than just standing up on end like a fuzzball?

I don't know...Mick Coxey did him for me. I think he used a soft paintbrush when the glue was still wet...

That would make sense. Brush the fibres across in the direction required while they are still wet and not set as yet!
And he must use LONGER flocking fibres? (Do they come in different lengths?)
The result certainly looks great!
Undoubtedly the best and most natural flocking I've seen.

Yep, it was 6mm flock for the head and 0.5 for the beard.
He is on fleabay here: https://tinyurl.com/yyensp2s

Um..after careful consideration overnight what I actually mean is....

Would it be ok if I asked Mick to do a similar flock...although in a different colour..on one of my figures ?

Undoubtedly one of the finest, if not THE best single VAM shot on the site.
Great composition, SO very simple in concept, totally uncontrived in its execution, using NO props or other elaborata at all, just a single found stick and some borrowed real landscape....and yet it tells a full and interesting visually graphic story to the viewer.
Just goes to show that sometimes less is indeed more!

Totally awesome blackbrazen! Congratulations. cheers  cheers  cheers

There's still time left to enter this in July's Photo of the Month?

Spur of the moment inspirations are often the best.
Just seeing what you've managed to achieve with virtually nothing makes me start to wonder if maybe I'm putting too damn much "stuff" in my compositions.

The "Kiss Principle" might apply?i
Keep It Simple Stupid???
I like the thought that you take your man along to the beach too.
Where is it BTW? Fiji maybe ? Somewhere in the Pacific?

Enter the pic. in the July comp before the 24th ...is it?

But then we see BAM's pics of Jake's Study and suddenly we feel like we need more detail and more odd bits and pieces and more background clutter!

Yes, it certainly is a dilemma SCU_HQ,......and if it's a diorama that is intended to be a permanent or semi-permanent fixture that you will use in many subsequent scenarios then super-detailing is definitely the way to go. And naturally I am a HUGE admirer of such mammoth efforts. It takes such a lot of work, and a great deal of searching and collecting to put those impressive environments together.

That being said, I can't help but also admire those spur-of-the-moment very simple ideas that just seem to work so well, fleeting though they may be.
Blackbrazen's "Crusoe" being the perfect example.
I tend to be a bit of a "snap-ideas" man myself, really enjoying cobbling together what I have available to stage a quick scenario. It may be demolished almost as quick as it was put together, but for me the photo is the thing and if it turns out OK that satisfies my need for visual expression of the idea.
Guess it's a bit like movie-making on sets or locations....or a kid playing out his imaginary situations.

I, like most of the other AMMO members it seems, really enjoy the fun of trying to come up with a different response to a given situation .
