| I bought another one of these Classic Collection Australian ODF figures via eBay last week, and it arrived today: 1996 issue G.I. Joe "Classic Collection" Australian Operational Deployment Force boxed figure. Price: $24 USD shipped. That's only a dollar a year for a for a quarter-century old "limited edition" unopened, boxed figure. What a deal, huh? There are presently three or four more of these figs, boxed, available on US eBay in the $25 to $28 range. I looked at the date of my original post and noticed that it was late-March 2018, almost exactly two years ago! I thought it was a curious coincidence that I bought each of these figures two years apart but in the same month. I'll try to get some better pics tomorrow. This was a quick snapshot with an iPad. _________________ ... DAVE

| The rest of the figure looks great, but that is really an appalling version of an Aussie slouch hat. They might have done better had they gone to a plastic moulded version. _________________ | |

They might have done better had they gone to a plastic moulded version. I agree, the hat is quite limp, particularly once removed from the packaging, which is unfortunate. _________________ ... DAVE

| Dave, I’m really really liking the look of your new 1996 Classic Collection Australian O.D.F. (Operational Deployment Force) figure. I’m hoping it won’t be staying in it’s box and getting ripped out of it’s box and going to be used in random pictures and in future stories. _________________ | |

| There are plastic versions available on eBay that are somewhat more realistic versions of the Aussie slouch hat. The soft, floppy thing looks more like some sort of an oversized "boonie". _________________ | |

| Where on Earth did you get that "Australian"(?) idiom from? Sounds like Crocodile Dundee, which is about as much like how actual Australians speak as Gomer Pile is to whatever language it is you speak in the USA! _________________ | |

Sounds like Crocodile Dundee, which is about as much like how actual Australians speak as Gomer Pile is to whatever language it is you speak in the USA! Well, golll-leee! I found it on some "Australian slang" website of questionable accuracy. That said, years ago when I was visiting Australia, we stopped at a restaurant in Melbourne and had quite a conversation with a young college-age guy working there. At one point he lapsed in to a faux-Crocodile Dundee accent and said, "An' maost Yinks theenk we owl towk loik this, but that's only in the movies." As we left we were chuckling to ourselves, because obviously the young restaurant waiter had never ventured far out of Melbourne. Up north... where you live and beyond, a lot of people do towk loik thet! Not everybody, of course, but a fair number. Same in the States: in the movies, every rural or country person talks in a southern drawl, y'all. Or in minimalist, taciturn Texan "yups" and "nopes." There are, of course, places where people talk like that, but it is certainly not everywhere, nor is it in every rural area. There is usually more than a germ of accuracy in most stereotypes, but they do not, of course, universally apply. Still... they can sometimes be kind of fun! _________________ ... DAVE

| Nice squad of Classic Collection Aussies you've built up Dave! I like the way you have laid out the shots. They look like they are standing in front of mirrors. Shazayam!!! | |
