I don't know why. Duty? Pride? Trying to keep fellow soldiers safe? Hard to say. It's a peculiar feeling to be sure.

More great "period authentic" photos! I like the first one, in particular. The bayonet looks especially lethal in that pic.

Oh, man! You're right! Embarassed So much for my powers of observation!

Although obviously he would bump up the Menace Quotient by installing a bayonet on his rifle!
