While not strictly speaking a "uniform" per say, it's a tremendously fun set, with enormous play potential and room for kitbashing.

A little more rigid in it's "customizing" value, this version of the set still affords great play value.




Regardless of which it is, let's see 'em, lads.

Here's my kitbashed Secret Mission to Spy Island set.







The equipment is a mix, though all the requisite accessories are there.

Raft, Radio, signal light, wire role, and watch cap are from the Timeless set of the same name.

The oar and detonator are VAM.

The M-16 and Camera are from the GIJCC.

The fatigues and ammo belt are vintage Joe.

The binoculars are from my spares.


I swapped out the grease gun for something with a little more oomph, a stealthy all-black M-16. This bash is modeled on my Aquanaut, Sawyer.

Secret Mission to Spy Island, although a relatively simple playset with only a few props, is one of my most fondly remembered, and arguably one of the best, GI Joe playsets in terms of fun! It's also one of the best playset names; Secret Mission to Spy Island just screams adventure and danger!

A few years ago I was inspired to try to create a Secret Mission to Spy Island style photo. At the time I did not have any Joe (or Action Man) figures, nor did I have any of the original Spy Island accessories. The iconic accessories that came to mind first were the dynamite sticks, the spool of wire, and the stocking cap. Using bits of plastic rubbish, I cobbled together some sticks of dynamite and a coil of wire, a random piece of plastic from an off-brand doll became a cap, and I cast an iCarly Fashion Switch Carly figure in the lead role: SpyCarly:


Silly, I know; but I thought the 5-inch Carly figure conveyed the essence of Secret Mission to Spy Island surprisingly well in this homage to a classic GI Joe playset.
