Replacement Stirling clips

Anyone got a method of fabricating clips for the sterling SMG?

plasticard cut down and to size painted black might get you out of trouble Brian,it probably wouldn`t pass muster as a replacement but for your dio etc it should be ok.

Anyone got a decent photo of one of these clips as I'm unsure of what they look like! Won't 'winch' be banging some repros out at some point?

I have a way of making clips for the Stirling.
 
I used a fire alarm call point test key that I had kicking around in my tool box. The test key is from a specific call point manufactured by Gent. (I have had a look on e-bay and there are several for sale there).
 
The test key is made from a black nylon / plastic that cuts and files easily, and is a suitable size for the ammo clip (I don't have an original to compare it to, but with the edge filed to a step it fits in and looks the right size)
 
The keys are about 70mm long, so I think you could get at least three clips from one when you chop it up.

This is just an idea if you need to produce lots of the clips, the yellow strip is card cut from a birthday card, the white is card they use for mounting pictures, exactly the right thickness to fit the gun. If you know of anywhere that frames pictures they will give you the offcuts as they usually throw it out, hope you kept your birthday cards Cappy    , Hope this helps .

Paul sent me one of these keys and I made two clips out of it. He's sending me some more and I'll do a photo tutorial on how I make the clips.

I am not sure if they are the same size, but I made a sten gun clip from the pocket clip of a felt pen lid, it was actually a CD ink pen. It works pretty well and you can see it in this photo just about. Scroll down and keep scrolling!

The method was to cut it to length and then trim the end with a sharp craft knife till it fits in the slot...  

Simples!

Problem is you have to buy a lot of pens if you need many clips, but hey, you'd never be short pens any more...

Can you tell me if it's possible to buy these Keys and where from ? I only need to make 6 or so, so don't want to have to bulk buy, but then again if they are cheap enough I will

I have none left as I sent them all to Brian.

However, if you type 'Gent test key' into e-bay they come up. The first result I get displayed is two test keys for £3.40 including postage. You can make three ammo clips from one test key.
