In light of the fact that we know there's literally no toilet paper now at RT-HQ, that g-string of Freya's causes me some concern......

Sometimes you worry me .....and by sometimes I actually mean most of the time

Did they in fact have any?
They always look a bit pretentious when you see them in movies.

Short answer: traditional symbol of authority dating back to Roman times. Largely phased out in the late-1930s, prior to WWII, but still in use by some regiments in the UK. US General George Patton carried a swagger stick with a concealed blade, like a sword cane.

I'm fairly sure that my cousin had a swagger stick. I will ask him next time I see him. He was Royal Engineers.

If indeed it's a badge of rank, it's a bit odd that you had to carry it around in your hand rather than wear it on your uniform like a badge or patch.
Considering his reputation for having a huge ego, the fact that Patton carried one does not surprise me at all.

Bit of a swap round today. I really like the fella on the right, but he had no real purpose......now he is an officer.  And I've kind of got half an idea for the fella on the left...ish, but for now he can stay as he is.
