Actually, does anybody remember a very old episode of the original series of "The Outer Limits" (B&W) called "The Bellero Shield" ??? Maybe it's just me but I was instantly reminded of a parallel.

My grandparents had one of those "dipping birds."
Clackers! Oh, those were ALL the rage for a while! And then stories began to circulate that they would shatter and, of course, "put your eye out!"
I had the Matchbox BP tow truck; my brother had the red fire chief car.
There was even one of those wooden folding carpenter's rulers out on my dad's workbench; a workbench that he never used, as he wasn't much in to tools and fixing things, but every garage had a workbench back in those days, I think.
Is that an original Wham-O Superball in the jar? With the little cap rockets? I remember those cheap little cap rockets!
Roll caps and plastic darts with metal tips! Yes, SHARP and LONG metal tips! Explosives and sharp points... and yet somehow we survived our childhoods.
Gumby and Pokey... the aptly named Pokey, because once those wires inside the rubber broke, they'd stick out and stab you. Major Matt Mason would do the same thing.
We'd carry Kamp King pocket knives (and cut our fingers whittling sticks in to points), leave jacks all over the floor to step on in bare feet, throw darts, try to explode the roll caps by flicking the little powder dots with our fingernails, and the Slinky was basically a sharp-edged industrial spring.
And look at that slingshot! I bet a lot of rocks when through that, and the occasional lead fishing sinker!
Oh yeah, and our cheap toys, like your marble bag, were made in Japan, not in China!
Good stuff, all around!

Unfortunately Dave that clip does not show the reference I was alluding to in my post above. Long story short. The alien possessed a device that put up an impenetrable shield around him, and said that it could be enlarged to cover a whole city, making it a great defence possibility. The ambitious wife of a scientist manages to steal the handheld control which activates the shield but after demonstrating its capabilities, (Chita Rivera fires a gun at her!) is then unable to remove it from around herself, trapping her permanently within a clear box, looking a little like the figures in their perspex boxes ...although in this case I think it may have been triangular?
JIM: I am so envious of your ROBBIE the ROBOT! Have you seen what those things are bringing now on eBay? As kids we were banned from ever touching Dad's wooden folding ruler. Kids seemed unable to manage to fold the things back the correct way and could cause serious damage to the hinges. I still have my Dad's ruler to this day. Of course now we all have those metal retractable ones. And a yo-yo? Don't know how many times I have observed that craze re-surface, but with modern kids so obsessed with their devices I think they may have finally gone for good?

Odd how the vintage Robbie only superficially resembles the actual thing, but your later one is a very good replica. Such an odd series. Apparently all the cast really hated each other! Dr. Smith was allowed to write scripts and they all tended to feature mostly himself and the boy, whilst Dad would arrive on the set and just usurp most of the younger bloke's (Don?) lines because he thought he wasn't getting enough screen time.
I picked up one of those G.I. Joe footlockers only last week in a charity shop for $2.00.
Can't believe you had a boomerang! That's the trouble with those damned things! You can't throw them away....as your possession proves!

"Kangerang"? As if the word appropriation and Frankensteining them together and the kangaroo logo isn't bad enough, the damn thing is made in Vancouver Washington! And they've got the hide to brag "The Finest Boomerang in the Air Anywhere" on the package! Well I suppose at least it wasn't "Made in China" where every souvenir you buy no matter where from seems to be these days.
When we were kids we made our own!

We did not play knife baseball like in the article you shared..
We played on soft wood...Mostly we ruined peoples wooden steps playing it...
Anyhow we opened the knife like the below pics then flipped it up in the air and different ways it stuck in the soft wood meant different things...Like leaning to right was a single to left a triple etc. etc.

The Lost in Space robot was simply known as: Class M-3 Model B-9 General Utility Non-Theorizing Environmental Control Robot
both were designed by Robert Kinoshita, which explains the similarities. They did appear together in a couple episodes of Lost in Space.

I did not realize how stained my Gijoes clothes were getting until I looked at the white reproduction Deep sea diver suit my DSD was wearing.. Brown and yellow stains all over it from dust etc. I'm really glad I bought these plastic display cases for sure...lol

I think the deep sea diving suit SHOULD be little dirty. In reality those things never looked pristine, but it is amazing just how soiled clothing will get even just sitting on the shelf. Imagine how grubby it must have become when kids were playing with it! Trouble is VAM/MAM clothing does NOT tend to wash well. The seams are only turned once which leads to fraying. Sounds like you'll have to buy even more of those boxes?
