I picked up a Cotswold 101st Airborne fig a few months ago. I was initially going to sell him due to a dislike of the headsculpt; but after putting a spare Gearbox head on, he looks more ready for action.

Here he is with the original head:
101st Pathfinder CA3D60B9-A5AC-4309-B846-9536CF6037E3

His new look:
101st Pathfinder 0E8AD8D9-7750-4282-9826-58DB88BEE78B
101st Pathfinder 9FF88E00-59DF-400F-9D7F-B5421903B54F
101st Pathfinder D2A0309D-DF66-47CE-982F-A9EC099C93BA

FAR better!
What's with that original head and all those...what are they exactly?
Bloody wounds? War paint? They seem to be symmetrical?
Weird or what?

I actually liked the look of the first head sculpt with its Bloody wounds and War paint, it gives him that symmetrical look which I think is cool. If I had that head sculpt and body I would strip him naked then I’d put tattered brown shorts on him then give him a hunting spear. The changed head sculpt really works well with the whole Airborne outfit.

The original headsculpt was based on the so-called “Filthy Thirteen”, the 1st Demolition Section of the Regimental Headquarters Company of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, (same regiment of Band of Brothers). 101st Pathfinder 5608-ACBB-DA30-406-A-9330-93-A1-A18-FA723

The issue was not the inspiration, but rather the execution of the headsculpt. 21st, DML and DiD did better versions of the warpaint heads.

Ah, yes! NOW it makes sense!
I've read of the "Filthy Thirteen" and their face-painting. Thanks!
I still prefer your adaption though.
