Damn it,.....everybody seems to be scoring one of these except me! I'd even buy any of the ones I see on eBay, except the shipping costs are usually far higher that the price of the jeep itself!

Is that what it looks like straight out of the box (other than figures), or have you detailed it with extra accessories? It's an impressively realistic looking rig!
We're all going to be wanting one. I hope you realize what you have started, here!
The price is very good! I kind of wish I had not just spent money on a non-RC vehicle!

Top pick-up!!!

Looking good, Jason!!!
I've watched a few videos of this little rig and it looks like it handles rocks and hills really well.
Thanks for the pics.

That is a really cool vehicle! Considering my other hobby is 1/10 scale off-road racing trucks, I need to look for one!

I'm finally getting around to painting the ROCHobby 1/6 MB Scaler (Willys Jeep) that I purchased last April. I almost went with pink... yes, really... like the Jeeps used by tropical hotels in the 1950s, but ultimately I decided on a "safari" paint scheme.
Work in progress pics:
While I had everything disassembled, I reduced the height of the front seat cushions. I'm hoping this well help figures sit a little bit lower relative to the windscreen.
This is one of those projects that I just want to have done! For me, the "fun" is definitely not in the process. Even though it may look like it's coming along, there are still countless fussy little steps remaining before it's ready for photoshoots or diorama scenes. Plus, I have to remember how to put it back together. I took the body off the chassis months ago, and it's been sitting ever since.

It looks great so far Dave , don`t lose steam and keep at it , you know how awesome this is gonna look when your done . The ground work as you say is tedious I know it ! But when it`s done we will all be envious and drooling over your unique Jeep . I admire you being so bold taking on such a project , good stuff , well done .

Looks awesome Dave. Should be a great vehicle for Gwendolyn Shilling-Tuppence. Not everything has to have a military theme.

When I saw the zebra-stripe pattern you went with I immediately thought of "Hatari". (John Wayne, Elsa Martinelli) Then when I googled that movie I saw that the jeep was really just a beat-up grey. However, be sure not to drive that thing anywhere near a rhino! Apparently they hate that pattern! Take a look at the massive strength of those things here when it completely totals a similarly painted vehicle. The rhino tosses it over and around like a toy! Then watch the driver emerge at the end, ....shaken AND stirred!

That was... exciting!
It did appear, though, that the vehicle was intentionally annoying the rhino.
Interesting that you should mention Hatari. I was thinking about that movie as I was working on this project, and wondering if I could cobble together a "foreign legion" style cap for the driver to wear. It also comes as a surprise to me that there are no zebra-striped vehicles in the movie.
But then, I was sure that Sinatra fought with an octopus in Assault on a Queen.
I think my appreciation for zebra-striped Jeeps and Land Rovers comes from growing up in the era of Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom and Daktari!
No zebra stripes in Zanzabuku, but those rhinos... they're just plain cantankerous!

The enabling on this forum just doesn't quit! Everybody is so helpful!
In every way except financially!
I didn't describe the style of cap I was thinking of very well. It's the kind with a cloth sun shade down the back. As I look at pictures just now, it appears that the cap the John Wayne character wore in Hatari was a long-billed "fishing cap" (similar to the J. Peterman company "Hemingway cap" or the Quaker Marine "Oysterman cap") with a scarf tucked in the back rather than having an attached sun shade.
Neither the Peterman nor the Quaker Marine versions of the cap have the squared-off bill. Now I'm kind of obsessing over identifying the Hatari hat.
But... this was a Jeep topic, wasn't it?

It's definitely the flap down the back that makes the iconic movie French Foreign Legion cap. Whether that brigade actually wore such an item I don't know, but in the movies it was a visual signal for just who we were seeing.
