By some weird coincidence I was reading about the Congo crisis a couple of weeks ago. It's the back drop to the 2016 film 'The Siege of Jadotville' but for me the stand out character in the real crisis was the French mercenary Roger Faulques. His real life reads like the exploits of an Action man in a dozen backyard wars! He was shot and wounded how many times?..and lived to fight again! He even had the GI Joe scar on his cheek!

The Congo Crisis is what "made" the reputation and mystique of the European mercenary in Africa. It was their golden age.

Of course she knows where the diamonds are hidden! Diamonds are a girl's best friend!

That's quite the history lesson. I wonder why Kamiko knows so many details about this? Simply from studying up in her fields of expertise? Or has she had a deeper interest in these events for reasons of her own?

Indeed, Kamiko is a clever one. Could her romancing of Capt. Penny-Farthing have more to do with diamonds than with passion? Of course, the passion ain't a side benefit to sneeze at! But, did Kamiko already suspect that Glynnis knows what she claims she knows?

The saucy love scene is of course not posted here but on my Flickr profile.  As for Kamiko, she has a very high IQ and is a history nerd.  Also, it's widely believed that she was agent for JSDF military intelligence. Some even say an assassin, but she usually is very coy about answering questions about those days. Most of the history lesson is true. The bit that isn't true is the story about the mystery plane landing at Kariba airport. There is no evidence that ever happened, though the rumors about it were the basis for the 1978 film "The Wild Geese."

I have only glanced momentarily at Flickr over the past several days. Apparently I missed some things!
