The Kit Carson Scouts . These fighters were defectors from the Vietcong , and worked along with U.S forces in the Vietnam War , there were many and varied reasons why they did move over to the other side . Some often had serious illness or injuries , knowing they would likely die if they stayed with the V.C , they surrendered themselves under the " chu-hoi " program , basically translates in English as Open Arms . Many filtered back to the Vietcong , after they had received U.S medical treatment . But many also stayed not being keen on the Vietcong's politics , and became popular among the U.S troops , though sometimes they were never fully trusted either by the U.S or their Southern Brothers . The " Chu-hoi " leaflets were dropped from the air in there thousands over popular enemy held ground and known hide outs , the leaflets offered amnesty for the defectors and their families , though often routes to the U.S bases were guarded by the V.C too prevent desertion . There was not as much strict uniform regulations with these scouts , and they often wore fitted uniforms , such as the Tiger Stripes shown here . Most of us NAM collectors love Tiger Stripes , of which there were a few different patterns .

Thanks ALL . I have a very large collection of NAM figs , but they not all up to these standards , I am slowly wading through to upgrade . I am trying to photograph each upgraded figure as I go . Am glad your still enjoying them , and the comments are most welcome .
