“Meat to please you!”
Cute series of photos! Red Skirt looks adorably Old School!
I like how you manage to convey an undercurrent of the characters being nice at heart, even though on the surface they express attitudes of jaded sarcasm.

Good people whose initial optimism with their calling has been tainted and filled with disillusionment with the realization that they are but little, expendable cogs to the indifferent bureaucracy of the upper echelons.

You will do as we say, not as we do! George Orwell intended his book as a warning, NOT an instruction manual.
Great comic strip KTC! No "social distancing" observed there......

It's the 23rd century. Covid-19 has finally been wiped out.

The Great Covid Panic of 2021 has now usurped the words ":social distancing". No, I was talking about that abstract space that is observed between people meeting for the first time, or those that don't know each other as "intimates". Your gals seem very close for a newbie and boss, but maybe social conventions have changed that far in the future?

In the space-faring future, perhaps personnel with on-board experience become accustomed to cramped, confined spaces and their behavior evolves in response. What is considered "personal space" shrinks as a result of long-term confinement, similar to the way personal space boundaries have expanded as a result of two-plus years of mandated "social distancing."
It would be interesting to ask a long-term submarine crewperson if perceptions of personal space change over time in confined spaces, and if they find it challenging re-adjusting to civilian life after a career on submarines.

Good theories Dave, but in the movies those spaceships always seem to have so much damn room!

In the three frames where they are close together, it's because they are bonding through sharing some common experiences. Also note, that discipline is sort of lax in the Hydran fleet, and women tend to be less inclined to social distancing between one another than me do.

Yep, I thought it may be something like that. Your gals always seem to be super-friendly.

Men are far less touchy-feely with one another than women are.

Yes indeed. The western "man-to-man hug" seen quite commonly now, is only a fairly recent innovation. Although heterosexual men have been walking hand in hand or arm in arm in some European countries for quite a long time.
