Thought I would post a few photos of the build of my dios from my stalag luft stories. I made the sets mainly from two old pallets . I cut grooves into the wood with my orange cutter on the left of the first photo to make the planks action man scale . If you look the floor is done and the wall not yet done .. I also cut a hole in my work bench to poke action man through so he looked like he was going into the tunnel.

Marvelous work and craftsmanship Dean. It's always great to see behind the curtain . The method you used for creating to scale planks is very clever. I use wooden cladding with grooves pre-cut. Great post mate, thanks for sharing!

Very nice to see the "behind the scene." You have a great array of tools. I wish I had the tools and material to make dio's like that.

The whole thing is awesome , and fascinating to look at , thanks for posting these pics , I always forget such photos . I had a quick search on your mentioned cutter tool , thinking what a handy tool , and was a bit shocked at the cost of them .

You cut a hole in your workbench so you could set up the scene you wanted? That's above-and-beyond when it comes to dedication to the hobby!
Although I suppose the hole in the workbench top will be useful for stringing electrical cords or sweeping away sawdust.
I am quite impressed by the "cast iron" heating stove. I thought, in the original images, it was some kind of metal item you had repurposed. I did not realize you had crafted the stove from wood. Very nice!
Impressive attention to detail throughout!

Yes there not cheap , but I bought mine for my work, and found it to be handy for set making…

Thank you for your kind words…. The picture below I found online, is a replica of the stove used in the great escape hut and I just roughly copied it…. As you said just cut out of a couple of bits of wood nailed together and cut small pieces of lead for the handles etc , then painted black …
