The first wave of the Hall of Fame figures released in 1992 included Cobra Commander. The bodies used were from a fashion doll line that Hasbro produced, so they are pretty much no more posable than a Ken figure. These figures included field manuals, much like the 1960's military figures. I couldn't find the original box back with his file card, so I'm including a couple of pages from the manual. The outer cover:
The back cover shows the "vow of dishonor." The last page on the inside shows the "oath of injustice." I'm showing these because I can't find the box back with his file card. Just to give an idea of the commander and his minions.
The original figure with all accessories, including a red stand that says Cobra on the front tab.
The figure has a light and sound weapon. The red button activated it, a small red bulb in the barrel was the light. This weapon doesn't have a battery cover, everything is between two sides glued together. The batteries in this one have gone dead. Because of the feature, this weapon is grossly oversized.
His other weapons are a luger in a holster and a dagger in a sheath.
His case opens to show a panel for communications, and alternate storage for the two smaller weapons.
The head sculpt under the mask. Later Hasbro had a mail-in uniform for a Cobra Trooper. It was made to go on this figure with the masked head sculpt.
Dogtags under his tunic has one with his personal information and the other has the Cobra logo.
This photo shows the original body along with a Classic Collection Snake Eyes figure on the left. The CC body will be the new one. On the right is Cobra Commander on the new body. I chose the Snake Eyes body for the black gloved hands. The original 1/18 scale figure had gloved hands.
And fully clothed and accessorized, showing the more posability of the figure.
I realized I got a bit wordy on the original figure, but I thought it might help showing the finished figure. I'm thinking of getting more in scale pistol and dagger, as the HOF figures weapons seem a bit over-sized, they don't fit well in the CC hands. I hope somebody likes it.

It's almost the same size as a pistol, but more firepower.

Very cool conversion! Even with some additional articulation, the HoF bodies are terrible. I think after the Classic Collection bodies came out, they still used the HoF bodies for the Star Wars and Starting Lineup figures. Good choice on the black gloves; almost as synonymous with Covra Commander as the hood and helmet.

Crazy how much that improves the look of the figure. The clothes definitely look better when they're a looser fit.
Incidentally, what was the name of the fashion doll line which used the Hall of Fame body? I'd love to see what that looked like.

Thanks, glad you like him.
I can't tell you which line, but I'm guessing it was one that Hasbro made.
I read in a figure collectors magazine years ago that the body was from a fashion doll line but as I recall it didn't mention which one. That issue was when the Hall of Fame line first started, sometime in the early 90's. I'm sorry I can't tell which line it was, I wouldn't mind to see what those figures looked like as well.

Ok, so I looked it up and it looks like the Hall of Fame body (or at least a body very similar in design) was originally used for Rob, the boyfriend in Hasbro's 1987 Maxie line, and then again 1990 for a New Kids on the Block line of dolls.

Your search went a lot better than mine, looking up Hasbro's lines. All I could find was Jem and Equestrian girls and a modern Sindy. None of those guys looked similar. Maxie didn't come up in my search.
Thanks for the info, I had wondered in the past which one it was.
