TALLY HO I think these photo shots a great and I'm liking the two black and white photos , I'm really think your bagpipes are brilliantly made, can I ask did you make them your self or did you buy them ?

hopefully in the future , want to do them coming off a beach , and relieving Pegasus bridge , now that will be a challenge to make

Nice Job Tally! Brings back memories of watching The Longest Day as a kid.

Hope you don't mind one small observation though? Lovat's Piper, Bill Millin, went ashore wearing his Kilt, Sporran, Hose etc and a Beret not a helmet as can be seen in the picture below of the Memorial Statue due to be unveiled this Saturday. Apparently the Germans actually avoided shooting him because they thought he was a madman marching up the beach playing his pipes!

CHEERS ALL , ran out of berets Winch , who would have though a collector would have said that , just went on pictures from the film , read up on lovat , he did have a white jumper , but was under battledress , but the film makes him look good in just the white jumper , my mates dad was with lovat on dday on the landing craft and beach head , very proud man , I said , so you were a marine , and he told me not to talk s**t he was a commando!!!

We missed a trick there then. All of our troops should have been wearing kilts and have bullet firing Bagpipes. No-one would've got shot then.

Tally you interested in making another trip over to Suffolk next year. Might have a bridge for your troops to relieve

Just had a mental omage of Tally`s commando`s relieving themselves on cappy`s bridge.
Class set of photos TH,my aunts dad was also with Lovat at Normandy.

Thanks all , cappy I will try and get there but hopefully going to normandy for me hols next year , my mates dad wrote his memoirs years ago , but they are not to be read until after his death , and for family only is what my mate told me

Good remembrance photo for this day. I wouldn't mind a similar photo for every major war-time remembrance. Sometimes it seems that only us "big kids" and history buffs are the only ones that know and remember the important times of our history.

There is some definite truth to that my friend. My son is 3 years old and its important he knows history as well.... At some point history will fade if not remembered through us.
