Hello Folks,with the help from our great Friend Rick AKA "Joeman" I have positively Identified this newly arrived Desert Patrol Jeep...Here is a quote from Rick......"Wally, what you have there is a late JCP AT Desert Patrol Adventure Jeep. Compare to 5 Star, AT decals, fixed plastic shifter, no hook for shovel (rt side), no side mount for spare, and I'd guess a 21stc machine gun. It will make a nice DPJ, just watch for tan color variations, original DPJ is darker tan, make sure you buy w/s assy same color.

I'm not entirely sure, but I don't think the DPJ had rails?

Rick".....It is in wonderful condition for it's age...The Machine Gun tripod that I have fits in just great...It is a lighter shade of tan...But the ton of paint that I have left over from my "Trapped In The Coils Of Doom" ATV matches the color VERY CLOSE....It will look just fine....I am hoping to get the wind shield in soon....The Formative International Jeep 50 cal is going to my FI DP Jeep and I will pick up the right machine gun stand,waist ring and 50 cal...Hoping to paint the tripod today...Man it has been as hot as hell here in Connecticut for the past four days...So I will try between Yard Work Breaks....I hope that everyone is doing well....Cheers Walter JC Penny 1970's Desert Patrol Jeep 011

Trailer chain holes from original 5 star Jeeps! That would look nice with a tan trailer on it?

AaaHA!! Ok Thanks Rick!!...I'm going to have to pick up another set of your very nice trailer chains... Again I have a bunch of the right color paint...I will try to pick up a trailer at a fair price...You don't have a spare kicking around do you?This is a boxed set that I have been just watching...Check out the Penny art box....See how it shows the side mounted spare? Wally, I've had 3 or 4 of those Jeeps and all were somewhat different. Mine has both spare mounts, the shovel hook on the right side, and the 5 Star style metal shifter. Evolution my friend, evolution!

I see !! Thanks Rick...I wonder if the version with the metal shifter has the wiring for the search light....I've been using this Preval sprayer for painting the tripod and spare tire...I think that they look pretty good....For some reason the hub in the picture looks too dark....It is my picture taking skills...But it does match the rest of the jeep....One word of advice...keep an eye on the brass bearing !! Hello.Here is my new custom painted desert patrol jeep windshield...I started with my five star jeep windshield "Borrowed from Peter to pay Paul"...I'll just pick up another one LOL...I just wanted to get this one finished..The first thing to do was to take out the clear glass...I did this by carefully drilling out the tabs that were melted to hold in the window. This morning it was all set,dry so I sprayed it with a coat of Krylon Crystal Clear....AAAAHHHH!!!I was not happy....for some reason it lightened up the color....That dried really fast...So I painted it again once more with the paint...This time I left well enough alone and it looks good..All that I need now are the rear hand rails and front plate decal ..Walter JC Penny 1970's Desert Patrol Jeep 015
