| I have been after a vintage US airborne uniform and accessories for ages and couldn't find one or the bits to put one together at the right price. But whilst looking had seen the 40th reproductions of this outfit.
I saw a complete but un-boxed loose set on Ebay and saw it didn't sell, when it was re listed I put in a bid and was the only bidder. It arrived this morning and I must say that I am impressed with it. My previous experience of 40th stuff has been a few odds and sods of accessories from Modellers Loft, but never a full uniform.
I prefer vintage stuff and will stick to it where I can, however in the future I will be more open to taking the 40th route for uniforms and accessories, (but I will stick with vintage figures)

| Ackie, I wouldn't go so far as to say it will be the first of many.
I prefer the vintage stuff, but things I am struggling to get to complete my Argyl & Sutherland and Life guard outfits may now be 40th instead of vintage.
To be honest I am impressed with the quality of the material used in the uniform. Getting towards the end of the vintage production in the early 1980's the uniform material was considerably thinner and lighter gauge than the earlier stuff. The 40th Airborne uniform seems to be made from a thicker material than some of my later vintage stuff (but I don't know how thick the material the original was made from).
Some of the other stuff isn't 100%, the scabbard is too bid for the bayonet and the webbing seems a bit thicker and as such is less supple than vintage.
That aside, it is nice to get an outfit that is clean, tidy, complete and is not compromised in some way which many of mine are.

| You do mean the 40th 'U.S. Paratrooper' ? It's a superb uniform, and the quality is top notch. Anyone who has not got this uniform yet, it's well worth considering. I also have the uniform, I got it at ML back in late 2009 and had totally forgot I had it, until this post. I agree with you about the quality of the fabric used, it's to be celebrated for sure. 40th uniforms and equipment always look good on original Action Man figures. Some of my vam PH's are wearing mint 40th basic pilot overalls, there's no worry of the damp leaking out the colours like the originals do. I much prefer a mint 40th uniform than an original tatty/torn, stained and rotting original Up the 40th! _________________ clivvers - saviour of the huMAM race @ MAMageddon 2009 - 2099 @ clivvers MAM Nation:

| Yes Clive, it is the US Paratrooper uniform I am on about.
I just need to make a BPEE figure for it to go on, from the various broken ones I have sitting in my to repair box!
