| I was so impressed with the US para outfit that I got earlier this week that I have just bought my second 40th outfit. A bit of back ground to what I have bought.
My first or second Action Man as a kid was a 17th/21st lancer with fuzzy hair and hard hands. He must have been hanging around on a shops shelf some where for a few years as he would have been out of production for at least 4 or 5 years when Santa brought him to me (probably being sold cheap as my folks were poor when I was a nipper).
This was my least favourite VAM as a kid as he couldn't hold a gun properly, ironically because of this lack of use was in good condition when I liberated my childhood VAM from my parents loft last year.
The lancer uniform has also survived amongst my stuff but is missing the lance, flags, spurs, cartouche, gloves and the helmet is missing the plume and chin strap. The white detailing on the tunic and trousers has discoloured and looks scruffy.
I have looked at Modellers Loft and to get the bits to complete the uniform was going to cost in excess of £30 if I used the scruffy tunic and trousers and my original belt and cord lines, and over £50 for a full outfit.
Looking at E bay this afternoon I spotted a complete but unboxed mint looking 40th lancer outfit just missing the cartouche strap for a buy it now of £12.99 - so I snapped it up!
I will have to keep my eyes peeled for unboxed 40th uniforms as I don't want to pay a premium for boxed but it is nice to have 'new' complete sets.

| Well done mate, you bagged a bargain there. Its a great ceremonial set, never really liked the cetemonials as a kid as I probably couldn't appreciate what they were. Love them now tho! _________________ WHO WATCHES THE VOLGANS... | |

| 40th kit on Vintage figures is the best way to go on a budget (IMO) and is the mainstay of my collection. _________________ Brian.

| Great stuff!!! I think collecting VAM or/and 40th is great! A vintage figure dressed in a crisp new looking 40th outfit can be a nice display piece, as can a 40th figure being used as a mannequinn for nice vintage uniform in place of a vintage figure. At the end of the day we all just want to play and display! It's only ego's that that spoil this hobby! Everyone one of us likes different things and that's a good thing! Anyway... Welcome to the darkside Paul!! lol _________________ | |

| Great stuff Paul. Jemma has a few 40th outfits and a couple of 40th figures. Her first ever AM was a 40th Grenny Guard from Uncle Ade.
The only disappointment has been the 40th underwater explorer jacket which has melted onto the figure. Now want to track down a suitable replacement.

| I have the black 40th Gijoe Frogman suit... It seems to be holding up very well so far. I put powder inside the jacket & pants every few months... Matter of fact I decided to re-powder the inside of the rubber wetsuit tonight then I wipe the outside of the wetsuit down with mild soap and water to take the powder residue off and to make it shiny... _________________ JIM...
