BOXED TALKING COMMANDER 1979

1979 as already discussed saw the Talking commander subjected to the sticker treatment that announced his new dynamic physique but by now i suppose all of the boxes were now depleted so Palitoy order some gorgeous new artwork and add a big flap to the side which is very short lived in favour of taking the flap away again. They used this artwork later for a real nice box when they entered the 80's so watch this space. This was another release that featured plain green and camouflage trousers at the discretion of Palitoy. As with previous releases some of these are said to have come with a black plastic pictured dog tag

Queue my sob story. I had this new Christmas 1979 and I kept it pristine in the box. I absolutely loved it. When my nephew was about 5 (me 15) I long term loaned him my complete VAM collection, (his dad had kick started my collecting with 6 ph's and a Marx Jeep). It was my understanding that when I had a child it would all come back to me for them. How wrong I was..... After Jemma was born I contacted my sister who told me she had given it all away two years earlier. I was gutted! Why didn't she say.

Since then I've wanted that figure with the blonde flock and green trousers in the stunning red box back.

The figure looks in great shape for it's 35 year old age, more top info, Dan!    

Palitoy's Strategic box design.. The striking red box and graphics for maximum toyshop shelf attention. The classic artwork would have made my heart skip a beat if I had opened this on Christmas morning back then. This box was definitely designed for being opened on Christmas morning    There's nothing like a mouthful of sweets when opening presents on Christmas morning as a youngster, it enhanced the experience to heaven and beyond, we (Clivvers HQ) always had a bundle of sweets amongst our pressies as youngsters, it's highly recommended for a cheek tingling, hair curling buzz

I've wanted one of these ever since I started collecting again. I had one as a kid. Thanks to Danny I no have one and I know my parents paid £6.48 for my present that year

18/06/1979 to 18/03/1991 – 15 %

Actually according to the on-line 'Historic inflation calculator' that's £37.36 in today's money! So Mum and Dad stumped up the equivalent of nearly £40 on him for you.

I really like your decision to concentrate on collecting boxed VAM, it has a very non-decarding feel about it, so I'm all for it!!
