Latest headsculpt project Sgt Elias K Grodin (Platoon)

Here's my latest headsculpt just arrived today and ready for my latest project its a resin cast of Sargent Elias K Grodin who was played by Willem Defoe in the Movie Platoon, this is one of my all time favorite war movies and Ive been after the figures for a long time but they are usually very expensive so I thought I would make my own up









This will be a mammoth task to paint up, plus with it being resin it doesn't have a neck post hole but it looks great doesn't it Ive just ordered another version of this head from USA that doesn't need as much work and is a Sideshow head with the neck-post hole so keep watching this space and see how James and I progress with our mission

Fantastic Iain! what a great project to get stuck into! Brownboots would be a good guy to contact for tips and help (if you need any, that is) as he is extremely good at this type of work. In fact, he repainted my Tommy Gunn sculpt. I shall look forward to seeing this project progress

Thanks Dal I've not taken on a paint job like this and dont want to spoil this head so Ive bought another one that only needs the hair and headband repainting so I will give that a try before I even think of starting on this one I'll give Brownboots a call if I get stuck thanks for letting me know

Sorry Guys I'm not trying to cheat on this but haven't started to paint the head-sculpt from the start of this feed but my new head-sculpt arrived today and I couldn't resist having a bash up with him and Specialist Bagley What do you all think



Out in the bush Elias and Bagley are on a routine patrol hunting a VC tunnel complex



"Elias it's too quiet... the Jungle is too still... I've gotta bad feeling.. some sh**storm is going to come down"

Suddenly a Branch snaps, and the metallic sound of a safety catch being released....................



"Hold your fire troop, keep your eye's peeled and when this opens up make every shot count, there's tunnel entrances all over thus stinking Jungle"..........



RATT-TA-TAT "Agggg Sarg I'm Hit there all over the place"..................



"Stay with me Troop, I'll keep you covered.. get outta this hellhole"........

"There's Charlie in the trees I got him"!!



That seems to be it Troop How's your wound is it bad"?

"No Sarge only got me in the canteen, bit bruised but will survive but need another M56"

Nice little story, Ian!

It's another unique head sculpt, kind of toy'ish, and fits into the world of Action Man and friends perfectly  

The uniforms are nice and the patches look nicely detailed!

Thanks Gary and Clive, I've been working on a new kit bash and have just got Elias a new 21st Century body with a few hand changes, I've also been making his sleeveless shirt taken from pictures I've found of the end scenes of Elias here's the kitbash so far

Cheers mate, Ive even stitched a couple of grenade rings on the ends of the breast pockets as that's how he had them in the movie, I'm trying to get this kit as realistic as I can

Took the guys outdoors today for a play

Out in the 'Boonies' on a search and destroy mission hunting for Charlies tunnel complex...
