| Blindly indeed!! Before starting this Comp. entry I had a realisation....I have NO idea how to Do this. I tentatively looked on the Bay......no outfits, nothing that would fit an AM or the alternative, Really expensive custom jobs. So that was my starting point, I'm going to have to make this stuff Myself! Spock. This was the biggest challenge, I wanted a Vulcan but an AM version not a super accurate version. The ears......first attempt, shaped plastic glued on....fail! Second attempt PVA Glue built up in layers .....failed!! Third attempt Super Glue Gel built up in layers...hang fire!!....it worked!! It took about a week of building up layers and hair drying them dry, I also found that the Gel took a sanding and would hold paint...result! I dull coated it and started the paint job.... Kirk. Ah!...it all started so well, paint job done, looked good, store it away till the unis are made, except the head Started to go Off! The paint reacted with the old Plastic of the head leaving it looking like this...... ...start again! This time around I used a spray primer before painting which solved the problem! The Uniforms. I found 2 kids t-shirts that were the nearest I could find to ST unis and made a few tests... This version shows the original braid I was going to use before I found the curved gold version The neck... Progress.... McCoy I was only planning to do Kirk and Spock but I had a stroke of luck...I won 4 sets of Phasers and belts on the Bay, It seemed only fair to make use of them! McCoy was the easiest to do, I even tried to paint in his slightly arched Right eyebrow like the Mego version! Nearly done, ordered some Dragon German Marching Boots and found 3 pairs of MAM cut off Trousers. Landing Party.......ready to beam down! | |

| Nothing short of awesome Paul!! A well deserved win and even more so with the custom work! With your talent you should choose a vam outfit you like and Reproduce it yourself by making the uni in your own way! Congrats again!! _________________ | |

| Very kind, thank you all! It was a frustrating/ fun project to do, hopefully the pics show that there is no easy way to dash this type of Bash off, you just have to dig in and try to achieve what you think is right...or at least what you 'hope' is right! There was another stage where I attempted to make the Phasers from broken French Resistance Rifles, I just couldn't get them to look right......least said on that one! ......b#%*^y ears!! | |
