| I've really only got one figure with a name, my intrepid explorer Eddie Hassenfeld, named after watching the sea water forming eddies in the rock pools on the beach at the Wirral near Liverpool and Alan Hassenfeld, of Hasbro fame. _________________ | |

Never saw Cap't Scarlet here, Jim. I first learned of him from SKJ's figure. We had Thunderbirds, Stingray and Aqua Marina but not the Cap't. Thanks! | |

| Great idea, unfortunately like others on here none of my men have names except the usual ones like Tom Stone. I do still have all my childhood figures but never named them other than beardy 1&2 , eagle eye baldy, floppy talker ,Zargon, Tom , Mail away , blue pants and fakey. | |

Fantastic names James! Simple and basic....but too the point and accurate! A school mate of mine's 1st, and for a long time, only VAM was a naked PH he'd be given by an older brother. He was still 'Mr Bare-o' long after he'd got some clothes. ..and can I ask?....'Fakey'? was he a KO or something? _________________ Life moves pretty fast. | so only having one vintage childhood action man , and him not having a name I have tended to name the usual kitbashes like my avatar Lt.col.Kilgore and col.mike Kirby from john waynes green beret I have also bashed a Vietnam era special forces Brigadier general and his name is General Morrison (my surname ) but just recently I have flocked a few joes and named them here is a pair that have a bit of character , others to follow ! FLOCKS BY ME ! Left ,Troy "SOUL PATCH" Jones and Right, Donald "SILVER FOX" Murray ARMED TO THE TEETH " WHEN NO ONE ELSE CAN, ADVENTURE TEAM CAN " Here is another little team who have names , this is an old picture as they all have name bands and U.S.M.C title Bands on their chests which where purchased from 1/6th scale king Not being able to afford an original usmc jungle fighter or even able to find a desimone replica , I thought I would bash my own with the two uniforms I could lay my hands on ! Left to right Ricardo "BANDIDO" Vazquez a resident of South L.A. joined the Marines at 17, it was that or gang life Anton "GUMBO" Adrieux , originally from New Orleans and of creole descent ,claims to be the groups head chef !well he likes to garnish the chow Niall "PADDY" Fitzpatrick, a tough new Yorker ,it was either the police or the military for him, why the marines? , why not ! paddy also joined at 17 after leaving the care of the blessed sisters of the sacred heart ! Thomas "ZULU" Brown III, Thomas is proud of his roots his great grandpa was named john brown and settled in Detroit Michigan ,to work in the new Motor Industry , Thomas's father and grandfather(both named Thomas) both served in the army his grandfather was a red ball express driver in ww2 ! United as Brothers in the United States Marine Corps Semper Fi these two guys I purchased from ebay , they where custom re-flocks on vintage action men and I immediately thought they looked like aussies so named them Digger and Bruce and dressed them appropriately DIGGER : The slang term for an Australian or New Zealand private soldier. This word (said to have been used originally among gumdiggers, especially in New Zealand) became common among New Zealand and Australian soldiers in 1917 It displaced “cobber” (comrade) and “mate” as a form of address. During the third battle of Ypres it came to denote an Australian private, much as “Tommy” denoted a British soldier " I think Bruce came from here !..........lol https://youtu.be/_f_p0CgPeyA

| There are distinct trends appearing here! Seems like there are three types of VAM names... The nick names...stumpy, beardy, etc quiet often based on a particular figure's attributes or imperfections. The characters..Joe and Hank, Jake and CH5, etc, where a child watched too much TV or had too much time on his hands and created a complete persona for his VAM. ..and the Kitbash accessory name. (This kind's pretty cool) Where the VAM gets a name that adds to the theme like a well chosen item of kit. C.A calling a VAM 'Bruce' adds to the ozzie feel just as well as adding a slouch hat does. Wolf Soldier's 'Fritz' is another great example. You can really go wild with un-PC 1970's stereotypes! Joe started off in this category as I got a SOTC Russian uniform the same birthday I got him and Joseph Stalin was the only Russian I'd heard of. Had I been a bit older with a bit more general knowledge poor old Joe might have been Boris or Ivan! ps Monty Python has a lot to answer for! That 'Bruce' sketch was one of the reason one of my guys got that name too!..Great minds and all that! _________________ Life moves pretty fast. ..and can I ask?....'Fakey'? was he a KO or something? Oh yeah , you guessed it KO Had quite a few of these as a kid but one joined the action man ranks while the others became cannon fodder. Steve Is it just the four of your guys that have names or do the others have names that you haven't mentioned yet ?
