| Hi, does anyone have memories they would like to share about their playtime with Action Man back in the day? I have a few memories that have always stuck with me: Apart from my memory of getting an Action Man for Christmas all them years ago I also have a few of my playtime with Action Man and my Action Man owning pals, for instance: On saturday mornings me and my friends used to set up large Action Man battle scenes on a grass verge next to some garages near where we used to live, we had painted head GI Joes as well, scorpion tanks, jeeps and sandbags, plus camoflage netting, it must of been 1971/72 in the Glam Rock era, it was always done on sunny saturday mornings, there must of been about 7 of us, we used to dig small foxholes to put our Action man figures into, we also had fun with the Red Devil parachutist in the square opposite our homes.. Slade, David Bowie, T-Rex and The Osmonds were in the charts at the time, plus Chopper bikes were all the rage.. It was about the time I got my first snog/kiss off an older girl of 16.. A group of local girls used to come and spy on us boys during our Action Man playtime, we used to shoo them away to a wall because they had their Barbies with them and wanted to join in lol! One of my friends was one of the first to get an Action Man with gripping hands, I thought they were so cool but never got around to getting one.. In summer we used to take our Action Man frogmen and sailors down to the local Hogsmill river and haul them along in dinghy boats with a length of string, is was booty central and stinging nettles were always a hazard lol! We used to swap Action Man bits amongst ourselves like we do these days to complete a uniform, my last and final uniform that I acquired through a swap was a Green Beret uniform complete, I think I swapped out some Airfix kits and a camping knife. I was always taking my fave Action Man out with me on family trips to the coast (a dark brown painthead wearing a 1st issue Basic Soldier uniform (1971 photo above).. I hope to update here some more later... Please share your memories in this thread... _________________ clivvers - saviour of the huMAM race @ MAMageddon 2009 - 2099 @ clivvers MAM Nation:

| Awwwwww Going Down Action Man Memory Lane what a lovely thoughtful thread you’ve created Clivvers, asking members to share about their playtime with Action Man back in the day. I’ll need to rattle my brain to type out my very happy happy playtime days with my mam. _________________ I’m Dedicated to serving Professor Gangrene as One of His Loyal Minions.

| I have no photos of me with Joe when I was young but do have some memories...lol I would run heavy twine string from our 2 story bathroom window down to our backyard. Breeches and buoy Joe got quite the workout... I would make homemade parachutes and toss Joe out our 3 story attic window! Sometimes the chute would work but sometimes not... I remember many a bathtub mission with my deep sea diver and scuba Joe! Shark and octopus attacks galore... In the 60's I had a Joe sleeping bag! Every Christmas I'd wake up and open my gifts then Joe and I would nap for awhile... Ole the great Joe memories! Great memories clivves and a great idea for a thread... _________________ JIM...

Thanks Ackie, I do hope others will share their past memories, I just can't wait to see my aunite for some rare colour footage of me and the lot I mentioned above, we are all playing at being soldiers with Action Man figures somewhere in the film? It's from 1970/71. _________________ clivvers - saviour of the huMAM race @ MAMageddon 2009 - 2099 @ clivvers MAM Nation: | |
