Subject: Mountain Rescue on Tinto Hill. Mon Sep 13, 2021 10:52 am
Geoff has been walking up the 2300ft Tinto hill looking at the Iron Age and Roman forts and has got lost in the thick heather. He is tired, cold, hungry and lost. Will he get rescued?
His friends notify the police that he is missing and they call out the mountain rescue. The mountain rescue team notice his car in a near by car park. They start searching the hill side with their search dog.
The dog smells something and barks.
He finds Geoff and barks again calling the team members to the location.
The dog goes up to Geoff to assure him that help is on the way.
The mountain rescue team assess Geoff’s condition. He is what is called walking wounded.
They radio the other team members to say he has been found and help him walk slowly down the hill with the dog in the lead.
Dad and Ivan have taken these pictures.

The mountain rescue teams must find it very frustrating when hikers fail to take basic precautions like carrying water and a few snacks with them.
However, I’m sure they are much relieved to find a “walking wounded” as opposed to someone in a more tragic state.
Yes it happens all the time hikers failing to take basic precautions with them. Recovering someone who is walking wounded is much less effort than using a stretcher (if it is safe to do so). It’s also better for the casualty.
