The name is a deliberate play on "Simone Signoret," whom as you probably know was a French actress, the lover of actor Yves Montand, and is buried beside him in the Père Lachaise cemetery.

Yes, I have seen her grave there. Pere Lachaise is a truly wonderful outdoor museum of western funerary art!
