Recently I came across a box with a "sci-fi" theme. First I posted the Star Wars battle droid, then posted Dr. Elliot. I've known of the Final Fantasy video games, although I've never played one. These two figures are from an animated movie based on the games, called Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. I happened upon these on ebay.
First up is Dr. Sid
The back of his lab coat showing the organization he's with.
The figure came with a book and a leaf, the leaf is too small to stay in his hand.
The next figure is Dr. Aki Ross
The back of her uniform, showing the back of her belt.
She came with two accessories, a weapon and specimen container. Better accessories than those included with Dr. Sid. IMHO
I saw a clip from the movie on youtube, showing her getting the sample in this container. There are other figures in this line, but these were the two I was interested in. More of scientist type figures. These figure were made by Palisades Toys. They seem a bit flimsy, and it seems the uniforms are sewn on them.
I don't know if anyone will like these or not, but since finding them I thought I might share.

Those figures include some really cool accessories!
I think Dal was using the Dr. Sid figure in his photo stories.

The figures do indeed come with amazing accessories, uniforms and props, but sadly, the figure bodies themselves are awful . This can be remedied but carefully cutting away the hidden stitches to remove the outfits, then redress them. Dave is indeed correct. That is how my Dr. Sid character started out life. Here you can see him before his upgrade to a 1/6 sculpt, on a much better jointed body, also, Anna Belle there is now sewn into his original outfit.
I must admit, I'm still considering buying more of these figures, just for the uniforms.
Thanks for sharing the pics Daryl, I hope you get to collect the others .
Ia also agree with Johnny, the film was excellent, but in truth, had very little to do with any of the conventional Final Fantasy games.

Cool find! I remember the movie, came out around 2000. Dr. Ali’s weapon looks like the flamethrower from “Aliens.” I remember seeing these figures and some for the Matrix films in Japanese Toys R Us when I was stationed there.

The most amusing thing about the Final Fantasy film is that the character of Captain Edwards was almost certainly supposed to be voiced by Ben Affleck; (he looks just like him) but is instead voiced by Alec Baldwin.
