Action Girl was A Palitoy offering in the 1970's designed to rival the Barbie and Sindy offerings from other manufacturers. Action Girl is therefore Action Man's sister. I recently had an Action Girl turn up at my remote outpost. She failed to bring anything else with her and only had shreds of bubble rap to hid her modesty. Full of confidence, this did not seem to bother her at all, but terrified her sibling that was there to receive her.
Barbie and her mad twin were dispatched to welcome her and get her sorted out.
Action Girl needed restringing. She is held together by hooks and elastic bands that had suffered with age. I replaced them with elastic cord as I would an Action Man . The middle hook in her hip section goes over a plastic bar that extends from her large bellybutton. I found that I could get better tension if I excluded that hook and threaded the elastic directly around the bar.
She was missing one hand. These are attached by a small peg that is moulded as part of her forearm. This had snapped off and the hand was missing. Mad Barbie soon created a replacement from Milliput on a trimmed down Action Man wrist peg. A hole was drilled into the forearm to allow this to be fitted. Eventually she might find a better replacement from a donor doll, Mad Barbie said she has a long list of girls she would be delighted to chop body parts from.
They then spent an eternity trying on different outfits to see what would suit her.
Surprisingly she chose a camo combination and rushed out on patrol with her brothers.
I think she might fit in well with her siblings.

I had forgotten that Tommy Gunn is not a blood relative. He has already been along to introduce himself. I shall have to keep an eye on him, but I suspect she can take care of herself.

Entertaining arrival story! Congratulations on finding this relatively rare figure! I am sure Action Girl is happy to be appropriately attired and back on patrol with the guys!

Yes, HM Armed Forces. It is a good uniform, but too small for an Action Man and a little baggy on her. She was an eBay find, only £4.99. Nobody else wanted her, I guess the missing hand puts off most collectors.

Nice pickup, and introduction story. I also like the way you showed how the body is put together, I've never seen one in "real" life, so it's nice to know if I'm ever lucky enough to get one and have to repair it.
I think the HM uniform fits her pretty well. Is the cap HM or AM?

I remember Action Girl, although not well enough that I could have picked her out from a line-up of similar 70's figures. A cousin of mine had one. As the only girl in the family she was always left out when we all played Action Men so I can see the logic of getting her an Action Girl. Unfortunately us boys (and our Action Men) weren't that keen on having a girl in the gang. I guess that back then (unlike nowdays) there weren't many tough, action orientated female role models to inspire kid's play.
I half remember she came on a mission or two one summer but must have just deserted and joined the Barbies after that!
