Star Trek. Starfleet Security cica 2280

A huge fan of the STAR TREK films STII to STVI. or maybe due to the uniforms within this time frame. Just damn perfect.

I have a Monster Maroon project underway but this is for the Security Guard first. The unsung heroes of STAR TREK lol

At least they started letting them wear armour.

So as the Security Guards are wearing rehash of the MOTION PICTURE uniforms (just change of colour and acc's to uniform added) i opted to utilise the mego TMP Spock outfit I had. Mint condition so stripped off the buckle, the cuff braids bar one to act as guide for cuff band (Dark Green).



Then went onto give the uniform a rit dye bath.




Though removed the grey and on the right tracks, still not 100% happy, so following day another rit dye bath and better results.




So colour is good to go, next the body armour.

After several attempts making a template, got it right.

Now happy with template the start of the armour.

I have opted for a plasticard .5mm base and will spray Dark Brown. I have also ordered pleather in case not a fan of this option.

So I have made four plasticard sets of armour LOL






Excuse the laggy band as sub belt, just wanted to see what movement of the figures upper body is like with armour on. I am pretty excited tbh as a figure from the ST universe NO ONE has done before.

Anyway here is where I am at present, so thoughts?

I don't know if to use the AM Luftwaffa helmet or the Hasbro WLA helmet as they did one similar if memory serves???

Wanted to do some Star Trek but not like most TOS or Main characters. Security from ST II TWOK to ST VI TUC are sorely overlooked.
Who know's may have people following suit LOL

Once done will be a four man Security team with the Captain. Now how much sense does that make, yet how often did we see that HAHAHA

Great idea for a lesser known (to me at least) Star Trek figure. The armour came out great!!! That plastic card can be difficult to work with. Always like to see the in progress photos.

@Brian Thank you and yes alas small parts in STI, STIII, STIV, STVI but on an away team you would think several would be going LOL W.I.P. shots are always worth doing in case inspired others or show your build. Never been a fan of those who build and only show end results, then guard their wip. Childish.

So while I wait on pleather. Figured try paints as an option.
So using 2 sets of armour painted one in games workshop chestnut ink


and the other in tamiya xf-64 red brown.

You'll probably achieve a better finish on that Card if you use a Spray Primer, spray, light rub with very light wet and dry
Then paint, that should eliminate the streaks and give you the finish you're after. It won't go to waste, you can spray up
Helmets and plastics too. I use it a lot ....saves a lot of heartache down the line!!

Looking good Jason, great idea . You could try cutting squares from an old vinyl wallet or purse, might get the look you are after glued to the p/card some have that leather look about them.

TBH these are only test beds, I am hoping the pleather ordered will be perfect. If not gauging colour and yes will be spray for final result. These hand painted ones are just test beds as want to do more with it but cannot till pleather arrives LOL

Update.

Added second layer of the pleather to the vest and done shoulders.
Just need to do holster and belt as too the white centre piece and then body armour done.








So hopefully today/tomorrow will have the vest done
