FIRST VAM/JOE/MAM OR 1/6 FIGURE
My first AM was a PH talker,he was a hand me down from a neighbour circa 1972 he talked very quickly and was all lose!but the first figure bought for me was a 1973 basic soldier, the gripping hands were amazing compared to the hard hands of my talker.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE FIGURE AS A KID AND DO YOU STILL OWN HIM
I had a few favourites but I loved my basic soldier and the German Stormtrooper, sadly I played with my figures to death literally!I remember giving one a military funeral in my back garden with full honours!when I was starting to out grow them!
My basic soldier and Stormtroopers
FAVOURITE NOW
Again there's a lot to choose from,I like the astronauts and Germans but I keep coming back to the 73 basic soldier, for me the nostalgia is all part of the collecting and as the 73 basic soldier was the first my parents bought me when I was 8 years old I would have to say this figure is my favourite!great memories.
MOST DESIRED ITEM
For me it's a boxed secret mission to Dragon island set,I had this as a kid too,I have the set minus the box and proper belt!
WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH YOUR COLLECTION AS YOU GET OLDER
There's one thing,I will never sell it,once I'm pushing up daisies I'm hoping it will be an investment for the Grandkids,my collection is mostly in boxes and not on display so I hope it will preserve them a little bit better, not that any of my figures are mint in any way.
Some of my boxes with figures in
WHAT DOES YOUR WIFE/PARTNER THINK OF YOUR COLLECTION/HOBBY
My wife thinks I'm a complete nut job!!!but on the other hand she realises it is an investment and she is happy I'm not spending my spare cash urinating it up against a wall!
DO YOU SET YOURSELF A BUDGET
Yes I have to watch because it's very easy to get carried away!but then again the wife is there to control the finances lol.
WORST VAM/JOE FIGURE
To be honest I can't really think of one right now because I like all the different variations of AM but if I had to choose one it would maybe be the Cowboy and Indian sets.
VIEWS ON 40th
I'm fine with 40th I don't collect 40th as a whole but I have purchased pieces to compensate until I can find the original piece for that set,I would never knock anyone for collecting 40th.
WORST ITEM OF THE VAM/JOE/MAM OR 1/6
Again I like them all but the only thing that comes to mind right now is some of the Cherilea vehicles and boats that are wildly out of scale to a 1/6 figure, but saying that I have a few of them.
BEST THING ABOUT COLLECTING VAM/JOE/MAM OR 1/6 RANGE
As I've said before for me it's all about the nostalgia owning a figure that's the same age as myself and was a great part of my childhood and also the buzz you get when you find that all important final piece to complete a set(not that many of my sets are complete!).
DO YOU THINK YOUR COLLECTION WILL BE COLLECTIBLE IN THE FUTURE
Yes for sure, the only thing that worries me is that after all us old folks are gone are the younger generation going to be interested in VAM? I hope so!
IF YOU DID NOT COLLECT VAM/JOE/MAM WHAT WOULD YOU COLLECT
That's an easy one,I have played in a band for years so my other passion is guitars!I have a few lol
WHAT AM/JOE OUTFIT WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE BEEN RELEASED
Mmm tough question, probably just an ordinary British police officer,I have a couple of the police motorcyclists but I would have liked just a basic Bobby,I've seen the police helmets on eBay someone has made they look great so maybe make one up myself,I've seen them done and they look great.
DO YOU HAVE A/WHAT IS YOU FAVOURITE SECTION OF AMMO
Yes the action man identity request section,I have only been collecting for about 6 years so I'm not the most knowledgeable and I find this section brilliant for ID'ing pieces I'm not sure about.
WHY DO YOU LIKE AMMO
I think Ammo is a fantastic forum, first and foremost because the members on it make you feel very welcome they are not intimidating in any way, that's important when your a new member like me!also the members I have came across have been most helpful and knowledgeable and I'm hoping to learn a lot on here.
