I posted this on another forum, thought I might post it here as well. Years ago I purchased this on the bay. I had to clean a lot of dust off of it (I didn't have it in a box) before I could take the photos. It has foldable rotor blades, which helps it to not take up too much space when stored. It has a button, when pushed it makes four sounds, first a helicopter sound, second a missile firing and hitting the target, third might be a gun and fourth the sound of a machine gun firing. It has a red light that flashes during the sounds.
After the cleanup I opened a compartment that I thought was for the batteries, but it turned out there was a rope ladder stored inside that I didn't know about for years since I got it. I found one of my GI Jane helicopter pilots to photograph with it.
Instead of a stick, for some reason it has a steering wheel.
A bracket on the front shows where something was mounted, perhaps a spotlight or gun? And looking at the side it looks like there were once half doors mounted on it. It also has a seat belt.
It certainly isn't a little bird that a company once made, but it's okay.

That is a cool thing to have the rope ladder in a box to drop down , does look under scale for your average 12 inch figure , but Jane fits right in there .

I like it a lot Daryl! Glad you posted it here. Amazing how the scratches and scrapes seem to add to the model too! Of course all these things had to be really scaled down or they would literally be huge. I have read that the designer's main concern was for the figure to fit inside but then everything else was reduced so that the idea was there but of course the true scale wasn't. As long as their man fitted inside, kids would not have been at all concerned at the overall size discrepancy as we oldies can be.

Hi Chip,
Actually Hasbro has always made Joe 11 1/2 inches tall. Power Team figures are actually taller, at least 12 inches tall. Jane is easy to put into it.
In fact, the cockpit is wide enough I think I could put two Janes in it. With both fitting in the seatbelt. Which is what I have planned to do, one to fly the helicopter and the other to be a machine gunner. but yes, most 1/6 vehicles are under scale, probably a cost cutting measure and to keep them from being too large for storage. Especially with the cheaper figure lines.
And yes, I was pleasantly surprised to find the rope ladder in it. I think I bought this about 20 or 30 years ago, and had no idea the ladder was in it until I was photographing it! Just because I saw the hatch and thought it was the battery compartment and opened it.

Thanks LeStryge! I'm glad you like it!
I haven't done much with it since I bought it, so the scrapes and scratches I'm sure is from play wear. I got it used.
And you're right, toys are scaled down due to size. It would be huge if it were at actual scale! Kids certainly don't care about true scale, as long as it is fun to play with. And to be honest, I don't care that it's not true scale either. Otherwise, I wouldn't have space to keep it!

Daryl I am in total agreement with you and of a very like mind with my own collection. Call it reliving a childhood or whatever but once something ceases to be a toy then I lose interest.

Cool item. I've never seen a helicopter with a steering yoke, mind-you but that just makes it cooler.

Kind of reminds me of "Little Nellie" from "You Only Live Twice," though that was an auto gyro, not really a helicopter.

Thank you KTC and Alexander!
I'm glad you like it. I like that although it's not true scale, it's smaller and doesn't take up too much room.
