| I always wanted a vam Land Rover, so when Danny said he had picked one up in a lot, I was quite excited about buying it from him. However, the poor old Land Rover was on its last legs, or wheels if you will. It was then I decided I would have a crack at another custom vehicle (the last one being thrown away by a cleaning mad mother-in-law !!, but that's another story). Anyway when it arrived I discovered it was missing everything, and was practically snapped into. First of all I tried to glue the body work back together, this lasted about a day before the glue snapped and I was back to square one While watching a top gear special where they go to Bolivia, Hammond's Jeep peaked my Interest, how cool would it look as a monster Land Rover ? First job was to build a chassis for the jeep to help hold it together, last night on chat, rossini objected to the fact I had used wood, but I must point out It is mature timber An interesting thing I discovered was that the original wheel points are do not line up perfectly ?? , very strange. With the chassis sorted, it was time to turn my attention to other parts of the land rover. Slack was kind enough to supply me with a full set of ATV wheels and axles, so with that sorted, I had to add parts to the axle to stop the wheels flopping backwards and forwards . Then it was a case of screwing and bolting the land rover body to the chassis. This is how far I have got, Still a long way to go and waiting for my plasti -card to turn up. I was hoping to get further along, but due to sparkys campaignfor better working rights for vam, I now have no helpers !! , thanks for that sparkys Git !! More to follow as I progress, fella's, thanks for looking ! ps - any donaions of lan rover parts would be appreciated guys, if anyone have any to part with | |
