The last boxed release of 1973 was The Sailor he too was given a new box though his zip was removed in favour of fasteners and his collar was now paper and not material. This is the period for many tally band name changes though it has been widely reported that the names were random during the release of the last Sailor? Costs were now paramount at Palitoy and many of he uniforms now were to be made of thinner materials. But saying this it was also the period for dress regalia, full accoutrement sets and breast plates so maybe they just diversified a bit with the cash ???
