| The background I ordered for the windows arrived. I cut and pasted it to a purposely cut board, then when dry fitted it in place, I alo rubbed down the old window frames, as I wanted them to be a little lighter than before. I have only popped in the front temporarily just to show what the finished windows will look like. | |

| That’s a really awesome background Dal. Nicely rubbed down on the old window frames . _________________ I’m Dedicated to serving Professor Gangrene as One of His Loyal Minions.

| Love it ...but then I would wouldn't I It brings back memories of London in the 70s and 80s...when it was a great place to grow up. I'm following this build with great interest and I've not been disappointed......first class work Dal _________________ NEW STORAGE FACILITY IS FINALLY FINISHED CHRIS | |

I'm getting vertigo here....and why can I hear 'Disco Inferno' playing in my head?? 'To my surprise, one hundred stories high...(Burn baby burn) disco inferno!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_sY2rjxq6MGreat work Dal, dio building practise obviously makes perfect! _________________ Life moves pretty fast. | I'm away for a few days and look what happens! Amazing progress! I'm always astonished to see how a project goes from looking like some rough-cut scrap lumber to "nearly finished." I know the entire build is not yet finished, but the parts on which you are working have a "finished" look to them (other than filling it up with props and details, I know). Creating a space behind the windows is a great idea, and it appears to be working wonderfully! The "view" looks far more realistic than just pasting a picture directly behind a frame. The mystery to me... because my finished sets tend to resemble the cardboard cut-out seen earlier in this topic... is that "magical" step that comes between "rough-cut scrap lumber" and "nearly finished." I have great difficulty making that jump. That's where the art comes in. There's an indefinable something that happens at some instant in time where a project transforms from looking like a mess to looking fantastic. This project is already starting to look like an architectural model. Great work! Thank you for letting us peer over your shoulder through these work-in--progress pics. Oh, and... the window blind! Did you make it? Is it a "found item"? What... how...??? Share your secrets! _________________ ... DAVE

My guess is a re-purposed cane placemat? I use 'em all the time. So handy. The wide slatted ones as floorboards, the narrower ones as blinds, and some are perfect for anything Asian or Island settings.

Oh, and... the window blind! Did you make it? Is it a "found item"? What... how...??? Share your secrets! Hi Dave, thanks very much my friend . Things certainly have moved along in a short time, but most of the wood is repurposed from the old study, it just takes a bit of tidying up. The window idea came from when I built the bedroom, although placing the window on a back wall created photographic problems, so this time I tried it n a side wall. The stairs were originally intended for the Ammo Arms, but due to other things coming up, that rebuild is on hold, so I incorporated them into the study. The only problem is now, I won't be able to fit everything back in , The solution? I am going to build a second set that will become the other side of the fourth wall (Just don't tell the missus! ) I have learnt a lot from building dio's, and I guess this one has moved along quite quickly is because this is my third build . I have tried to document this one, in the hope it will be helpful to anyone who wants to 'have a go themselves' The window blind is indeed a repurposed dinner mat, as were the old ones from the study before. Thanks for popping in Dave, and really pleased you enjoyed it More to follow soon

| I would be interested to know what kind of problems placing a window on a back wall creates as I was thinking of doing just that. _________________ NEW STORAGE FACILITY IS FINALLY FINISHED CHRIS | |

In my experience, the main issue with having a back wall window is unwanted reflections, either from the camera flash or when setting up lighting, or from lights in the room. Also, the photographer often shows up faintly in the "glass" of a back-wall window. _________________ ... DAVE

Also, the photographer often shows up faintly in the "glass" of a back-wall window. Couldn't have put it better . I did change the glass in my llast dio for perspex, although this helpeed, it didn't solve the problem. It was suggested to me to try the plastic from a figure box, I never tried that, so maybe that would be worth a try?
