Why does the mere possession of one of those damn things immediately confer on somebody the idea that they have the ability not only to compose songs, but to sing them too?

We got back just before the Coronavirus became an issue! On the very last night, with disembarking scheduled for the next morning, the staff began implementing enhanced sanitation processes, including switching the self-serve buffet line over to full-service, and scrubbing and cleaning every inside surface. The regular staff were assigned overtime in addition to their already long shifts, and officers were being brought in to assist with some tasks, including cleaning work. I'm glad the trip ended when it did. Until the all-clear is sounded, very likely months from now, the care-free cruising lifestyle will not be nearly as care-free!
Making the ship look nearly deserted in these photos required timing and luck, as the ship was sailing at full passenger capacity. Even so, it rarely felt over-crowded. While large, the Norwegian Star is not considered a "mega-ship," and does not offer race car tracks and laser tag arenas. It felt more like a ship than a floating resort hotel, an aspect which I very much appreciated relative to some of the other ships I've travelled on.

Great precautions! Due to the close crowding that is a normal part of a cruise ship, any contagious disease will run rampant.
Glad you enjoyed a great time aboard. I have always decried the design of modern cruise ships. Once upon a time they all had what was described as nautical "lines" which were very attractive to the eye. Now most of them look like nothing more than a huge block of condos sitting on a bath-tub, with interiors resembling the very worst excesses of Las Vegas casinos.
I was a little surprised that Willie didn't buy any fancy cruise- wear! ( Nice camera though! Duty-free of course?)

Wow fantastic voyage, Dave!!!
You are really treating Willie right. Maybe a cruise is just what he needed to get over the case of nerves he's had since he was in Florida...
Sounds like your timing was perfect. I guess if you had to be quarantined that ship would be as good a place as any, but it would still suck to be stuck there.
I had no idea how much travelling one would have to do just to get to the ship.

Oh, he remembers Florida! He remembers Florida all too well! In particularly, he often thinks about his travelling companions on that adventure. He thinks... and he plans... and he waits....

GREAT travelogue Dave, with some truly wonderful shots...I've never been to Chile.
(But couldn't help thinking that your red lady would have looked more at home in that "religious" shrine! It definitely looks as though the flames have been through recently. "The Lady's from Hades"?) P.S. Interested to hear what your Wife said about you stopping to photograph Willie so often! )

Didn't make it that far. Bluff Cove, actually, which was heavily defended by Argentine forces (there are still the remnants of machine-gun emplacements), but the UK forces were aware of the defences so they bypassed it.
Among Falkland residents old enough to remember the conflict there are still considerable hard feelings evident against Argentina. It was interesting talking to the local people... and they like to talk! Friendly bunch, and very free in sharing their opinions!
