BOXED ROM (Space Knight) 1980

The Last release boxed of 1980 ROM is often overlooked by the Action Man collectors and is often thought to have been released in 1978. It is also often quoted as Palitoys move into electronic toys as was the fashion nowadays. These are both common misconceptions as it was actually Parker Bros that released this figure in 1978 for the American market and it wasn't until 1980 that Palitoy licensed the ROM and therefore was the start of the three big boxed figures that were to come. ROM also featured in the sticker album that was also released in the same year as Action Mans Allie and the box also stated that Action Man was Joined by ROM. nevertheless collectors often see him as the Space Rangers enemy as up until now Action Man as a Space Ranger didn't actually have one ?? The ROM didn't actually speak but he did make a selection of noises they were listed as........

Wow! It's the first time I've seen the box graphics like this, and who doesn't like robots! The window box design is smashing.
ROM is a great looking toy, it kind of has a 'CASIO Made' look to it! If only CASIO made toy robots The 3rd photo looks like the box art for one of ATARI's late 1970's video cartridge games

Not one of my favourites, but I wouldn't say no to a boxed one. I remember someone getting a mint, boxed ROM at a boot sale for £15.00
