| Subject: latest recruits from e-bay recruitment drive… Tue Sep 06, 2016 9:37 pm | |
| I thought I would share with you the result of Major Mikes request for more VAM recruits for the Munrovians. You will have seen the Squad Five .Here is how they arrived after a quick clean up Here they are now . One of the EEBP's had snapped leg at the knee joint. After checking my spares box and looking at the repair thread (no doner joint) and not really confident enough (yet )for 'open thigh " surgery, I opted for a half way house repair. I had some of these 40th joints from giving the others new grippers and thought ...hmmm I drilled out peg holding the central joint in. scraped out the Bostick from the previous owners attempted repair, and drilled a hole for the hand peg. super glued each end of the peg into place, using the 'wrist joint ' as his new knee. Here is his new knee . no side rotation but OK back and forwards. Will do until I get my NVQ level 2 EEBP surgery award So the new squad, with their new identities, can report for active duty as an intact squad and go kick some Dragonian butt :histerica Some other recruits from have arrived via the e-bay 'portal'. ( a squad of three "Smoggies" amigos from Middlesbrough) They all had severe "loft crust" on them - or had forgotten to wash off their Cam Cream Gary Pallister Terry Cooke Robbo Robson Here they are ready for duty.Terry has a yellow is stain on the side of his chin which will need a little more work These guys however will need a little More TLC | |

| Great idea with the knee joint! That's given me an idea for a repair on one of my guys, if I can find his arm in the bottom of the spares box! _________________ | |

| Great stuff Pete Let me know how it goes I love the fixing up part of the hobby On a broader note I was just musing I wonder how many Action Men might have been produced between 1964 & 1984 ? How many we can assume have been "lost in action" and how many might still be awaiting in lofts to be discovered ? | |

| Subject: Quick look at the "refit and repair " workshop at Munrovian HQ. Sun Oct 16, 2016 4:45 pm | |
| Hi Guys Here is a quick shot of the various latest recruits in various stages of repair. Although I've been bust with work recently, I've been trying to grab a quick 45 mins here and there to keep the 'getting the old guys back into active service " project going. Here are two new recruits- Chris and Alan Rigby… spookily enough they arrive from Ulverston which is my old home town Dreadnought and Black can't wait to meet these two and catch up on some Ulverston gossip. From their address, they will definately have seen action action on Hoad hill and Bardsea- possibly even Birkrigg. Chris I've given some special forces hands and Alan has a serviceable original gripper. I have given him a special forces hand as well, but may well do some swapping with some of the other recruits to give him an 'even handed " look. These guys arrived from Swindon- I think I'm going to do the hand swap with Alan from Ulverston with the PH . The Bearded adventurer really needs a re- flock. He will get a set of SF hands as well. I've also given them some special forces feet . I managed to sand down the SF peg to fit the AM leg - should do the trick ! The EE BP needs a foot transplant and … an EE head & post- so that's next on the e-bay hunt - other than that his joints are nice and tight and will make a great addition to the team. Here RN Diver Campbell and Cpl Adam Smith discuss the problems of Arm joint crack & the merits of and arm swap by one of them and getting a replacement set of SF Arms . Here Pierre Angus and N01 discuss that now he has a set on new 40th grippers what his status is and what new kit he will need in his new role in the Scottish 5 Squad. No Name and Commander Laurence of the Scottish 5 Squad discuss getting a set of SF arms with the HD gloves. We also found Commander Laurence had had his voice command kit removed by his previous owner and how that might impact his balance.
Finally Blonde and Braddock discuss what the New proposed 55 squad - (if gunner was starting now) might look like . Blonde : " Braddock you will need to think about characters from the start I think " Braddock : " You are right Blonde, this is a great idea by gunner to create a squad from the new volunteers and give them a whole new set of adventures !" Blonde: " Aye - what with the autumn and winter campaign coming on there should be plenty of time to do some serious thinking about that !" Hope you enjoyed the update- the next challenge is to get them all kitted out | |

| Great stuff Steve! loving the rebuilds! BBI hands are great replacements for vam hands if you don't fancy grippers, and a great tip for a replacement head post is BB's rubber washer trick . I have used it myself, and it works a treat . Keep up the great work, Jake is most impressed | |

| Thanks guys been in the garage so some of the squads are now good to go. here NoName and N01 give Blonde and Braddock orders to get Chris & Alan up to HQ to meet Black and Dreadnought -lots of VAM tales to swap Braddock: " Bet you can't wait to catch up with two old Ulverstonians ! - whats is the chance of the e-bay portal delivering that !" Chris: "Aye - it will be great - but I hope we get some kit soon - I'm blooming' freezing !" N01 : "Right NoName lets gat back to help over see these guys getting kitted out .. and make sure Balck has been behaving !!" Here The Scottish 5 are ready to go and are receiving orders from Captain Morgan to get kitted out from the QM. Cptn Morgan : Commander Laurence - Take your Squad and report for Turbo Copter familiarisation ! Commander Laurnence "Och thats excellent Captn- well nae let you doon, will we lads " Squad : "You can count on us Sir !!" Here Jim Saxon and Ben Thatcher give headless Dean Ashton assurance they won't leave him behind and will get Gunner 1.0 source a head Jim himself is a tough looking geezer- goodness knows what adventures caused his hair loss ! a re flock is called for. Finally Colour Sgt Hart let's Cpl Adams know his elastics are in such good shape he will have to wait for a non - stressed cracked arm - the doner one from RN Diver Campbell was too badly cracked. Colour Hart : " Don't worry Adams - Major Mike Baker want you to head up a squad of SOTW- Mixed Brits and Jerry's" Cpl Adams :"Blimey Colour has that ever been done before ?? " | |

"Och thats excellent Captn- well nae let you doon, will we lads " Good choice making the Scots the Turbo-copter team. They'll be carrying on a long tradition of Scottish technical and engineering excellence. Although if the training pushes the Turbo-copters to their limits you'll be hearing the immortal line 'The engine canny take it Captain!' Commander Laurnence maybe be looking forward to it but team member Walter isn't so keen. Why?..because Laurnence wants to fly turbo-copters but Walt Disney! _________________ Life moves pretty fast.
