| Hi Stonewall, you are right - its starting to get a bit cold in the garage for the lads having so many its getting difficult to keep track of the characters. I need to get them kitted out in as squads now | |

Hi folks you may recall three sorry looking chaps arrived at Munrovian HQ and reported to sick bay ? and you may also recall Captain Actions really generous offer ? …. Well here is what happened A small package gets opened … Jim- " Hey Jim's body …over here !!! Jim's body homes in …. Jim: "left a bit , right a bit ….blimey its just like Bernie the bolt on The Golden Shot !!" Jim's reflocked head is re united - Amazing work by CA - Kudos Jim : Now then who is this in the box with me ? Picking up Hamish, Jim explains to Andy the fourth member of the crew . Jim: Andy, you can join us when the Hitler combe over has been rectified by Gunner 1.0- Andy : You go and get Hamish integrated with Deano's body - it will be the perfect combo !! Hamish : Aye , lets get a move on ! I've been bodiless for some time now - us redheads don't like waiting about! Jim finds Ben and Deano . Ben : Jim - you came back !! Who's that ? Jim : Its Hamish Scott - all the way from Kent - He will be a perfect match for Deano ! …..and here they are kitted out and ready to go !!! Don't they look great !? Ben Thatcher - Squad commander Jim Saxon- A touch of the Hank and Spud about him I think ! Hamish 'Deano' Scott - I looked in the jumble that came with them and thought … Hmm Para ? The Crew - ready for action

| I've just remembered my first vam restoration from back in 2009, it was nerve wrecking for me lol! I was worried i wouldn't be able to put the vam back together again, it actually made me shake a bit. The hardest part was prizing open the thigh clamps to insert the new elastic, I broke a nail or two and pinched my finger lol! I also remember soaking the metal rusted neck and arm hooks in Coca Cola for 4 days to remove the rust (with a little help from a stiff toothbrush) , i also used my bed post as a tool to aid in getting the head back on with new elasitic. I managed to fully restore the vam back to like new again, now it's a doddle. Some folks are nervous of repainting vam eyebrows back in, it is quite tricky, even after doing a few myself, i think it's the hardest part in restoring a vam. I know someone on this forum who can paint eyebrows wearing a blindfold, his name begins with 'b' and ends with 'boots' These outfits below look like Chad Valley Military ones? I have some that look very similar, it's been a long time since i've had my vam nation out: _________________ clivvers - saviour of the huMAM race @ MAMageddon 2009 - 2099 @ clivvers MAM Nation: | |

| These outfits below look like Chad Valley Military ones? I have some that look very similar, it's been a long time since i've had my vam nation out:
Hi Clivvers Spot on ! They are Chad Valley. I share a childhood " frustration" with SomeKindaJoe aka Steve that I never had enough of one kind of uniform to put a unit together . for £20 ( Argos) I think you get 4 good basic uniform to build on. So as I have got back into collecting again, I'm developing a bit of a "philosophy". 1. Buy a bundle of VAM from E-bay. 3- 5 figures. That does seem to be a good number for a squad . 2. Keep them together as unit/squad - Who know does VAM have 'memories' ? any way they deserve to 'serve' again with their buddies 3. Kit them out in similar kit - the "Uniformity project", but also give them some individual characteristics/character names ? any way got about 3 squads to get kitted out - Squad 5
the Three Amigos from "Boro" The Scottish Turbo Copter Squad The SOTW - Brit & Jerry squad
I also need to get 'on and sort out what place my MAM have in the Munrovain Ranks cheers Gunner

| What a great train of thought for the figures Gunner! I love the idea of the ones that arrive together, stay together.., genius mate! You have a fantastic knack of pulling the units look out of the bag mate, they all look awesome! Really looking forward to see who turns up next! I only have two squad units in uniform, my sas lads and my grunts, but maybe I should consider your way of thinking my friend | |

| It would be so nice if forum members emailed Chad Valley on mass to ask them to release some more figures, including different military carded uniforms and polar adventuring outfits, because they make quality stuff and the items would definitely sell well in Argos.

As Gunner says 'Kudos'
Jim Saxon looks so good Hank and Spud are going to invite him to the HMS Dreadnaught crew reunion xmas booze up. Don't expect to see him for a few days after that! _________________ Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

| Great flock work, Jay, top!!! It is always interesting the different ways people approach the hobby. I really love your ideas of restoring a few figures, keeping them together and forming them into squads. It just seems so right. And, excellent work on this section!!! Years ago I was working on a squad of British WWII figures. I was informed that what I was really doing was building a section. The US has squads, the British Army has sections. Just sayin' But whatever you call them, you are doing excellent work!!! | |

| We too have squads Gibri , then section ,then platoon , then company , then battalion then regiment then brigade ! phew ! In british military drill a 4 man unit is referred to as a squad 8-10 men for a section but for drill purposes still referred to as squad as in squad!, squad shun (attention) stand at ease stand easy etc etc but platoon is reffered to as platoon for drill purposes !and upward reffered to as what they are company etc etc etc if you will a section is made up of 2 squads

| Hi Gibri I do have a UK model in mind when I'm thinking Squad ( half section or 2 x 2 man fire teams to make it even more confusing ) - 6 Years in the TA as a section ( 8 man ) commander As I'm building the various teams up I'm realising there is an ideal Action Man level/number of squad (Team) building up. I'm guessing that as a kid if you loved AM , you probably had 5-8 over your time with at anyone time about 35 on active service ? - supplemented of course by Knock off ! I guess if AM was just a brief phase or Mum & Dads funds were limited , most had 1-3 figures ? So the average Child hood VAM team/squad was 3-5 ? Also i'm re learning how exhausting/fiddly it is setting up more than 5 VAM at a time for a story !! - They still fall down a lot - | |
